MAN Türkiye A.Ş., was incorporated in 1966 with 1/3 of the capital being held by MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG under the title of MAN Kamyon ve Otobüs Sanayi A.Ş.(MANAŞ) in Istanbul, and the factory facilities were placed into operation in the same year. Truck and motor factories were opened in Ankara in 1985. MANAŞ management was acquired by MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG in 1995 and the production facilities of trucks, city buses and coaches were united at Ankara in the same year. MANAŞ, which started city bus production in Ankara in 1995 realized the production of S2000 coaches in April 1996. Motor factory was purchased in 1996. The daily production capacity was increased to 4 buses in 1997 and the shares of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG were increased to 81%. The bus production capacity was doubled in 2002 with the “8.5 Project”. The shares held by MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG in MANAŞ reached 99.9% and the company title was changed as “MAN Türkiye A.Ş.
MAN Group, to which MAN Türkiye is affiliated, is one of the largest companies producing investment goods in Europe with the turnover of 13 Billion Euro in 2006. The company turnover has increased at a rate of 15% compared to the last year. MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG (MAN Commercial Vehicles) is the largest company in the MAN Group and one of the leading commercial vehicle producers of Europe. MAN Nutzfahrzeuge, which united all bus operations within the MAN Nutzfahrzeuge structure under the newly established NEOMAN Bus group with the inclusion of NEOPLAN firm into the MAN family in 2001, has achieved a turnover 8.7 billion Euro with 80.000 trucks, and 7.300 buses sold with its 34.000 personnel in 2006.
MAN Türkiye, which has been increasing its total turnover and the portion of exports in its turnover in the recent years, is exporting to 41 countries. City and service buses, MAN and NEOPLAN brand coaches are being produced at Ankara facilities and exported to all world countries from there. While the production of all of said vehicles are realized in Ankara facilities of MAN Türkiye, the sales and services are provided through MAN’s worldwide sales network.
MAN Türkiye, which has doubled its production capacity in 2002 with the 8.5 Project realized in 2001, has now become the design, development and production center of the NEOMAN Group of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge for standard coaches and city buses with the increasing production capacity. With the “Evolution 2004”, a capacity increment project, the factory has reached the capacity to produce 2000 buses annually.
MANAŞ, which produced 429 trucks and 100 buses on a total production area of 4.000m² with 301 personnel in 1966, is today a company realizing exports to 41 countries with 3.100 truck sales and bus production capacity of 2.000 on a production area of 110.000m² with its 2.950 personnel as MAN Türkiye. MAN Türkiye factory, working in full capacity in bus production, has been exporting 80-90% of the production based on local market conditions since 1995. MAN, which has been one of the pioneering firms of the automotive sector on the roads of Türkiye since 1950, is running successfully to new targets with the strength it receives from its history in the year 2006, in which it celebrates its 40th year of its production adventure in Türkiye.
